(See 'Double Pleasure') - Large plant w/branched inflorescence, stabilized as F-1 hybrid able to be reproduced by seed - Merkel said, "A glorious hybrid w/branching inflorescence attaining a height of 4' when well grown - not always branching - spectacular candelabra effect in flowing brilliant colors of orange red". Notice that no mention is made of petal colour although it appears these were originally yellowish red but now seem to be totally red. Also in an unnamed variegated form.
Oct 2011 - Detail from Nat Deleon shows that the initial hybrid was glutinosa x splendens which indicates that reverse hybridising did occur.
