VRIESEA ‘Sceptre d'Or’ ?German origin 1909

Large rosette w/robust branched inflorescence and coppery yellow bracts - Richter said, "Plant large to very large w/many leaves - leaves wide at base - linear lanceolate - bent over - green w/lively brown spotting - Flower stem very large and high - inflorescence strongly branched - yellow w/reddish brown marks - yellow flowers". Duval in 'The Bromeliads' 1990p136 (originally 1902)shows parentage of his French hybrid 'Sceptre d'Or' as mirabilis x 'Rex' There appears to be a French 'Sceptre d'Or' produced in 1902 by Duval and a German 'Sceptre d'Or' produced in 1909, hybridist unknown.
