Mature, open rosette to 1 metre diameter. Broad, glossy, garnet red inner leaves with dark green tesselations, extending to moss-green outer foliage portions. The inflorescence is tall and branched, resembling that of V. hieroglyphica. A very strong grower but dislikes the strong light required by most pattern-leaf Vrieseas. Grex siblings = V.
