TILLANDSIA ‘Orange’ | ? / Hiroyuki Takizawa* | 1999 | |
Mature, small, upright, rosette to 7 cm. high x 6 cm. diameter. Pale green, stiff, scurfed leaves which turn fluorescent orange upon blooming. Exserted, tubular dark violet flowers. Namer Hiroyuki Takizawa wild-collected this form in Oaxaca, Mexico in 1999 and has observed over 20 years that in cultivation it has always blushed into vermilion orange foliage instead of regular red blushing at bloom time.
