TILLANDSIA ‘Scarlet Pimpernel’ Tristram P ? / G Lawn* 1980s?

Mature rosette to 40cm. diameter x 20cm. high. Soft, pliant, mid-green, arching leaves with a longitudinal midrib and reddish reverse. Erect, extended branched spike to 60cm. tall, branching angled at 40-50 degrees to the main stem with light red peduncle bracts on long-ovoid "paddles" and dull violet flowers. This cultivar appears to have emanated as T. "flabellata hybrid" from Forest Drive Nursery, New South Wales in the 1980s but it is unknown whether bred in Australia or if it is an overseas import. So-named because over the years its true identity has proved elusive. Reg. Doc. 7/2016 by Geoff Lawn.
Country of origin: N.S.W. Australian

Seed Parent: flabellata var. viridifolia ? Pollen Parent: variabilis?
