TILLANDSIA ‘Tanti’ Butcher D* n/a

by D. Butcher 3/2006 This is a plant collected near Tanti, Argentina and has a long history as far as the Germans are concerned. Frau Muhr says this plant only grows where you find both T. argentina and tenuifolia. Renate Ehlers confirms this point. Aussies Len Colgan and Derek Butcher got plants of this in the early 1990’s and they thought they knew what ‘Tanti’ looked like. In 2000 Lydia Kohres collected again from ‘Tanti’ – it must be a favourite spot – but her plants are different to the previous ones. Backcrossing in the wild must be occurring. Len Colgan has always said that T. argentina loves to throw around its pollen, or is it wild oats! Reg Doc 5/2013 . Amended 10/2014
Country of origin: Germany/Australia
