NEOREGELIA ‘Wally’ Ellis, Brian 1995

Mature open rosette to 40cms. diameter. In strong light, bronze green/ pink/ red leaves heavily spotted cream with mostly central or mediopicta cream variegation. Nest cup flushes slightly red at blooming. Not named after a particular person. The expression "what a Wally" usually refers to a silly or inept person but as an adjective "wally" can mean fine or splendid. Tricolor Group. Reg. Doc. 3/2000 by D Butcher.
