Upright broad-leaved rosette which matures into an open crateriform type up to 1-1/2 metres diameter of N. cruenta. Stiff, leathery, grey-green foliage with hooked reddish brown spines. Considerable scurfing, moreso on the leaf reverse with random longitudinal silver stripes, reddish streaks and pinkish red "fingernails". Wild-collected in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, Rio de Janeiro before city expansion destroyed its habitat. Reg. Doc. 4/2014 by S. Weston. Country of origin: Brazil | |||
