cv. of unknown saundersii? hybrid - Old standard found in cultivation everywhere - 10" few leafed oval-sectioned tube in lower body w/flaring strappy lax upper leaves - deep maroon overall w/some white spotting - short stolons - will stand full sun as landscape plant - Bromeliad Treasury said, "The outstanding feature of the cultivar is the reddish brown color of its 2" x 12" leaves and the white polkadots on the ends of each leaf blade - The rosette is tubular for over half its length but the upper third is a graceful vase shape showing off the leaf dots".
