Mature, small, upright rosette to 4cm. high x 2.5cm. diameter. Stiff, dense, pointed, heavily-scurfed, short crimson leaves. Upper crown of leaves turns pinkish red at flowering with tubular purple petals and exserted golden stamens. The white trichome layer becomes less visible when wet.
