TILLANDSIA ‘El Camaron’ Cathcart D* 1990\'s

Natural hybrid collected in El Camaron, Oaxaca, Mexico in the 1990s by D & L Cathcart and Alfred Lau Jr. It is without a doubt a hybrid of the rock- dwelling T. fasciculata (which looks like a T. ‘Hondurensis’) and T. ionantha var. stricta which is also there,. at 1400 metres altitude in the desert. Looks different to the T. x nidus from Veracruz. Note the difference between a plant in the desert and one under cultivation where the measurements are: 35 cms. tall overall. Inflorescence 10 cms. tall, 4cms wide. Leaves 25 cms. long by 10mm wide. Reg Doc 3/2012
Country of origin: Florida USA
