BILLBERGIA ‘Theodore L. Mead’ |
Mead T, Giridlian, J.* |
1926 |
(See 'Windii') - distributed in California by Orpet from T.L. Mead - named by Giridlian - identical in most respects to 'Windii' still being grown today by European growers - soft grey-green pointed leaves in small rosette w/characteristic long pendent inflorescence w/large rose to red bracts and green recurled petals edged in blue - thought to have been a case of a cultivar being imported from Europe without being allowed to bring its own name., but was an unregistered hybrid by Mead dating back to 1926.
