Genus: WittrockiaWittrockia is a genus of the subfamily Bromelioideae. The genus name is for Veit Bracher Wittrock, a Swedish botanist (1839-1914). The seven known species are all endemic to the Atlantic Forest biome (Mata Atlantica Brasileira), of eastern and southeastern Brazil, where they grow as epiphytes and terrestrials.Number of accepted species in this genus is 7 (source: species counts in the Encyclopaedia of Bromeliads). |
