Genus: WittmackiaWittmackia is a genus of the subfamily Bromelioideae. Native to the Caribbean, northern South American countries and Brazil, it is named in honor of German botanist, Marx Carl Ludwig Wittmack (1839-1929). The genus is closely aligned to Aechmea and Hohenbergia, with 44 species from these two genera transferred to the ressurected genus Wittmackia, after a 2017 study of the Ronnbergia Alliance.
