Genus: PseudalcantareaPseudalcantarea is a genus of the subfamily Tillandsioideae. It was created in 2016 after the multi-locus DNA sequence phylogeny and morphology study and taxonomic revision of the Tillandsioideae subfamily. (Barfuss et al. 2016. Phytotaxa 279(1): 001-097). The genus name comes from the latin word pseudo (false), meaning false or wrong Alcantarea. The three species involved were all formerly in the genus Tillandsia.Number of accepted species in this genus is 3 (source: species counts in the Encyclopaedia of Bromeliads). |
