Genus: OrthophytumOrthophytum is a genus of the subfamily Bromelioideae. The name is from the Greek words \"ortho\" (straight) and \"phytum\" (plant). All species are terrestrials endemic to the Atlantic Forest biome (Mata Atlantica Brasileira), in the states of Alagoas, Bahia, Espirito Santo, Minas Gerais, Paraiba, and Pernambuco of east and southeastern Brazil.Number of accepted species in this genus is 64 (source: species counts in the Encyclopaedia of Bromeliads). |
