Genus: GoudaeaGoudaea is a genus of the subfamily Tillandsioideae. It is named for Dutch botanist Eric J. Gouda, who assisted with the collaborative multi-locus DNA sequence phylogeny and morphology study and taxonomic revision of the Tillandsioideae subfamily. (Barfuss et al. 2016. Phytotaxa 279(1): 001-097). Formerly part of the genus Vriesea, the two species are endemic to forested areas in Colombia, where they mainly grow terrestrially around rocky cliffs and bluffs.Number of accepted species in this genus is 2 (source: species counts in the Encyclopaedia of Bromeliads). |
