Genus: Goudaea

Goudaea is a genus of the subfamily Tillandsioideae. It is named for Dutch botanist Eric J. Gouda, who assisted with the collaborative multi-locus DNA sequence phylogeny and morphology study and taxonomic revision of the Tillandsioideae subfamily. (Barfuss et al. 2016. Phytotaxa 279(1): 001-097). Formerly part of the genus Vriesea, the two species are endemic to forested areas in Colombia, where they mainly grow terrestrially around rocky cliffs and bluffs.
