Genus: DeinacanthonDeinacanthon is a genus of the subfamily Bromelioideae. The name is derived from the Greek words deinos (terrible), and anthos (flower), likely in reference to the heavily armed leaves. There is only a single known species, Deinacanthon urbanianum, endemic to Argentina and Paraguay where it grows as a terrestrial.Number of accepted species in this genus is 1 (source: species counts in the Encyclopaedia of Bromeliads). |
