We are gratified to realize that progress has been made in
the concept of "Spanish Moss" (Tillandsia usneoides). Back in
1924 in an Orlando newspaper it was stated that Spanish Moss was not a plant
but a kind of parasitic insect that lived on the trees . . . almost as if it
had been written in the sixteenth century!
