I only have arrida and igneosicola but they both grow fine. I'm still
experimenting with igneosicola trying to get the light right. My big one has
taken on a more upright form which doesn't seem right, but otherwise is a
strong grower.
Mine don't seem to go dormant but that may depend on the culture.
I would love to get my hands on some of the others but the area in Venezuela
where they grow is hard to get to and apparently plant exportation is even
harder.

Subject: [GrowRR] growing Navia spp
Hi,
Can anyone share any experience or advice on growing Navia spp?
The only species I've ever grown is Navia sp. arida (?) several years ago. I
got the little plant started off for about 3 weeks, but then it was devoured
by a millipede. So I've never really had a good go at growing these plants!
I've heard all sorts of mixed reports about growing them. Some say they are
very difficult to grow, being extremely cold sensitive and very particular
about growing medium, etc. Some say they are easily grown. I've heard
people say that they go dormant during winter and then send up new leaves in
the spring. Some people have said that they produce a lot of seed, but few
or no pups.
So if anyone has some experience growing them, I'd really like to hear what
has worked for you and what has not worked. I'd also like to know which
species you have been able to grow succesfully and how, etc.
George.
