[GrowRR] Canistropsis seidelii

Greetings,
  Although I've little experience with setting seed of Canistropsis,  
transfering pollen between two or more plants of the same species should produce  the 
desired effect. If not, there would be no way the plant could have existed  
in nature, other than by natural vegetative propagation ( offsets). For a time  
there was some debate as to whether this plant was a legitamate species. As 
the  plant was "discovered" by Alvim Seidel, it had been thought to be a hybrid 
that  popped up at their nursery, oweing to the fact that they produce their  
bromeliads from seed. Evidently a wild population was rediscovered as 
witnessed  in Elton Leme's series of books, finally being elevated to true species 
status.  As I know it, two color forms exist, one with red bracts, and another 
in yellow.  If a brown form exists, I'm wondering that it may be the result of 
crossing  these two forms?         All  the Best, Kevin
