this summer I had the unfortunate experience of a scale infestation on my Aechmea collection. My greenhouse is in a shady lawn with strong morning light and diffuse light thru polycarbonate roof panels all day long.I run a small fan in the house at all times and the walls are operable aluminum sash windows with insect screens -these windows stay open all summer long(it's a long summer-I live in DAllas Tx.).The temp rarely goes below 75degrees F and daytime highs routinely go to 100degrees F.The humidity in the house ranges from a 20% low at late afternoon to 70% at night -obviously it's higher for a day or two after watering which I do twice a week. My Tillandsias and Neos all thrive out there -the Aechmeas -most of some Orlandiana variance-get scale in August and go downhill from there -any advice on a remedy will be most helpful-I know insecticide will clear it up-however-I prefer solving this at the root cause and keep my house chemical free if possible -thanks Chuck Armstrong
