There are some that look and do not see. This is common amongst humans who
take a household article as gospel and I am as guilty of this as others.
Your first challenge is to find a seed pod on T. usneoides. Then you hope
the seed is viable when you put in on some handy bark. A year after
germination try to pull off the seedling!They don't lose their roots as
such - strands get broken off and blow away. If you could reproduce without
sex what would you do if you were the lazy sort!
