HELP - Only long standing Brom growers need answer!
In the Bromeliad Cultivar Register there is a Vriesea 'Brentwood' which is
said to be both a large plant with a branched inflorescence and a small
plant with a simple inflorescence and that it originated in Europe before
1972. The earliest reference is to Kent's catalogue in 1972. I find it very
hard to believe that it came from Europe without a European type name and I
have just found out that 'Brentwood' is a suburb of Los Angeles. All roads
lead to California. My dilemma is that I have 4 photographs called
'Brentwood' - all different but all branched. Any information would be
gratefully received.
I know that some growers have promised to bequeath their old photographs
and slides to the BSI but I would like to solve problems like this before I
too fall off the twig.
