I am afraid I cannot help you. I myself lost the plant in 1989 when I moved
from Los Angeles to northern New Mexico. I obtained the plant from an
elderly gentleman who did volunteer work at the Cal State Fullerton
Arboretum; he was one of the "Old hands" when it came to growing bromeliads
in the L.A. area but he never published anything. I cannot remember his
name, though I think his first name was Bob. When I told him I was moving
to New Mexico, he informed me that his doctor had given him six months to
live, so I doubt he is still around. I don't know where he got his stock or
who IDed it.
I am posting this on the lists in hopes that someone will know who this
grower was; I remember him as having red hair, and missing one finger.
