Ping Li:
I have had a similar problem with plants rotting during shipment. It is probably because they remained damp in the shipping container. You will probably lose most of the adult plants soon, but you will increase your chances of producing pups, especially from the epiphytes such as the Aechmeas, Billbergias, Neoregelias, Guzmanias and Vrieseas by spraying them with a non-copper containing fungicide and placing them on their sides (this will prevent them from accumulating additional moisture in their cups or between leaves) on open plastic trays to dry out. Place the trays in an airy space, such as a upper level shelf that receives indirect or filtered light. After about 5-7 days when they have had an opportunity to dry out, you might mist them occasionally. Start watching for buds of new offsets. For the terrestrials bromeliads like cryptanthus, dychias, hechtias and orthophytums, peel away the dry or damp mushy leaves from the bases and spray with the non-copper fungicide then plant in clay pots filled with perlite or fine volcanic rocks. Water only the media and keep a dish with water beneath the pot.
Hope this helps you and good luck.

Subject: [GrowRR] how to save the bromeliads after long trip
Dear All,
I have just received some bromeliads from aboard. For some problem the plants were stopped by the customs for nearly two weeks. Almost half of the plant got rotten when I opened the box! How can I treat with the lefts which seems still alive? what should I do with the later maintanence? The plant are mostly in genus of Aechmea, Billbergia, cryptanthus,Dyckia,Neoregelia, Deuterocochnia,Hechtia,Orthophytum,Guzmania,Vriesea
Would you please kindly tell me how can I save my plant? Hope to hear from you soon.
All my best regard,
Ping Li
